This N64 Fram based controller pak memory card is the perfect solution for those that are worried about their N64 game saves being lost, which eventually occurs with the original or third party battery based memory cards due to the battery inside dying with age, the foreverpak 64 needs no batteries and is likely to be the last N64 memory card you will ever need.
Fram is used to mod old original controller memory cards in the gaming community, however forvever pak is manufactured from new with Fram rather than being a used modded card, it features a high quality injection molded plastic housing shell and two sticker labels.
The Problem
Original, official N64 controller paks store their save files on battery-backed SRAM chips. These volatile chips only store data when they are supplied power, which is supplied by the battery. But once the battery dies, so does your data stored on the chip it was powering. This means every controller pak,
along with the data on them, is on a ticking timer. While new batteries can be soldered in, lost save files cannot be recovered, and the pak will eventually run out of battery and cease to function again.
Our Solution
Rather than using battery backed memory, our paks use modern, advanced, nonvolatile memory. Our memory chips are not battery backed, allowing it to last indefinitely. The Forever Pak has 256kb of storage, the same as an original pak.
The Good Stuff
Forever Pak uses high-quality injection molds with high-grade plastics. Our custom circuit boards utilize gold plated contacts, with beveled edges to help prolong the life of your controller. It feels like the real deal, but for the absolute purists out there, Forever Pak’s circuit board is compatible with the original controller memory pak’s shell. This means our PCB can be installed in an official first-party shell without any modifications to the shell, should you desire.
You Get a Sticker
Each Forever Pak comes with 2 sticker labels that can be applied to the face of the cart. These are useful for writing down what’s saved on the game pak. Or you can leave the pak blank and stick them on your forehead. The choice is yours. We wont judge.
Color Conscious
Our injection molded shells were carefully tuned to match the official controller colors. Everyone has a favorite N64, and unlike their matching controllers, you don’t have to pay extra to get the one you want.
FAQ
Q: Does the Forever Pak work with the Dex Drive?
A: We have been told it works with the Dex Drive but it must be formatted using the Dex Drive before you begin playing and saving.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A CONTROLLER MEMORY PAK FOR SAVING GAMES. IT IS NOT THE MEMORY EXPANSION PAK THAT IS INSTALLED IN THE CONSOLE.
